Interesting topic. I am of the belief that not knowing what a species of fish is with its respective legal size limit is no excuse.
I can see how fellow fisherman crucify these less experienced fisher-people on social media if they post such pictures, however most could get their point across in a better way. Instead of abusive comments there should be more encouragement to release the fish next time after a quick photo if the fisher-person is unsure what the fish species is.
I can see how rec fishing is on the decline with the mentioned reasons in instances like this where social media blows a minor issue in the scheme of things out of proportion for all to see, however I still don’t have sympathy for ignorance and make sure I get my point across in these instances, just in a polite and ‘next time you should…’ fashion.

If people really enjoy this type of escape, I’m sure they’ll make the effort to go and have an amazing experience. As long as they are respectful to the area. When we did our Cape York adventure some 8 years ago, we were shocked with the amount of litter that people left lying around….very sad to see.
